Whales are intelligent creatures, it's possible that they knew the intent of the whaling ships. Good for them, I say.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4178642210546286892.post-27174192622698892482014-01-04T10:01:06.842-08:002014-01-04T10:01:06.842-08:00I didn't recommend the book because I approve ...I didn't recommend the book because I approve of whaling, or anything else that happened in the account of the sinking of the Essex. It's just a good historical account revealing a lot about whaling and the period--details that few people know about.Webmasterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01288216644162393811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4178642210546286892.post-81049038809547506482013-12-23T05:13:32.576-08:002013-12-23T05:13:32.576-08:00Your dislike of whaling does not invalidate, or ev...Your dislike of whaling does not invalidate, or even address, the content of Webmaster's recommendation. Whalers, having slaughtered their livelihood, must venture stupidly far afield to find more prey. Tired of being pursued-- literally-- to the ends of the earth by murdering a-holes, a whale fights back. The ship is sunk; most of the whalers subsequently die. In other words, a happy ending. No "heroism," no "epic," nothing "awe-inspiring" to see here, folks. Blood-soaked murderers getting their just desserts, nothing more.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
