Animals in space

Wikipedia gives a long list of animals that have made it into space.  The list is surprisingly long.  No doubt you heard about chimps and dogs, but did you know that in 2006, the Genesis I inflatable satellite caried a Madagascar hissing cockroach and Mexican jumping beans into orbit?  These were probably the first animals on a privately launched satellite--NASA probably couldn't face the fallout from Mexican jumping beans in space.

So, cockroaches have already made it to orbit.  Just a matter of time before they make it to the moon.

So far, no accidential hitchhikers into space that I know about, and only one escaped spider on the Space Station.

A welcome handshake to Chimponaut "Ham" after retrieval from a trip to space.
